Why does Infiniti require premium gas?
Your INFINITI features an engine that requires premium gas.
This higher octane fuel will allow you to reach your desired horsepower so you can see the vehicles potential to perform.
Although the vehicle will perform, it will be a little sluggish compared to what it can do with premium gas..
Is premium gas really necessary?
In many cases, the answer is probably no — you’ll likely be able to use regular fuel with no noticeable issues except for minor losses in performance and gas mileage. If your owner’s manual says that premium fuel is required, then you should do it, but your car won’t blow up if you occasionally opt for regular.
Does x1 need premium gas?
BMW requires that your model car run on premium gasoline (they recommend that all of their cars use premium, but only require it on select models)
Will regular gas damage a premium engine?
Using regular gas in an engine that requires premium could void your warranty. That is most likely to happen if using regular causes severe engine knock or pinging (premature ignition of the fuel, also known as detonation) that damages the pistons or other engine parts.
Can I put 89 gas in my Infiniti?
The engine is designed to use premium fuel. Knock sensors are there to protect the car from detonation, not so you can run regular fuel full time. The knock sensor has to detect knock before it retards timing to control the knock.
What happens if you put regular gas in an Infiniti?
If you mistakenly fill up with regular fuel, your car’s ECU will adjust engine timing and performance to work with the lower-octane fuel. In most cases, this is ok for the times when there are no premium pumps around, but it’s not ideal to run the cheapest fuel possible for extended periods of time.
